As the Director of Audience Engagement, Rashanda engages and supports the Trust-Based Philanthropy Project community through communications, peer dialogue, storytelling, and learning opportunities. Equal parts observer, amplifier, and connector, her role supports deeper engagement through the stories, knowledge, and experiences of funders who have adopted trust-based practices and the nonprofits who have felt the positive impacts of this approach.

Rashanda is unrelenting in her pursuit of social justice, specializing in digital media, inclusive storytelling and communications strategy. For the past 11 years Rashanda has supported marginalized communities and nonprofit leaders to advance racial and gender justice by leveraging the power of stories. She believes the most important stories are often untold. Rashanda uses media, data, and design thinking to build capacity and center the voices of communities historically excluded from decision making. Prior to joining the Trust-Based Philanthropy Project, Rashanda served as the Brand Awareness & Community Director for CultureWorks Greater Philadelphia where she successfully helped hundreds of artists and organizations grow and secure significant funding (over $1M to date). Her endless enthusiasm and empathy has allowed her to turn traditional communications and storytelling on its head. She graduated from Arcadia University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Law/Managerial Economics. An IRL ball of energy, when she’s not working, Rashanda enjoys binge watching 90s sitcoms, journaling, listening to most genres of music, and hanging out with friends.

Land Acknowledgement: Rashanda Freeman resides in Philadelphia, the ancestral homeland of the Lenape peoples (Lënapehòkink).
