Most often works with: Family Foundations, Private Foundations, Intermediary Grantmaking Organizations, Philanthropy Serving Organizations

Challenges most often addressed:

  • I support organizations to bring their strategy and best intentions to life.

  • This includes work to align grantmaking practices with stated values and strategy, resulting in more streamlined systems and more trust-based, meaningful relationships.

Jessica Bearman works with grantmakers and other philanthropic organizations focusing on organization development, facilitation, and R&D to help them build thriving, intentional cultures and practices aligned with strategy.

Jessica advocates field-wide for equitable and meaningful governance and grantmaking practices. She designs and facilitates learning communities that promote deep knowledge building and peer learning across philanthropic organizations, including Grantmakers for Effective Organizations’ Change Leaders in Philanthropy Fellowship, a 10-month community of practice for senior leaders.

Jessica lives on a small farm in Idaho on the ancestral lands of the Nimiipuu, Palus, Schitsu'umsh, and Spokane tribes with her family, two irrepressible dogs, a hard-working barn cat, fifty philosophical chickens, and thousands of industrious bees. Outside work and family, she serves as board chair of the National Network of Consultants to Grantmakers and fights for reproductive justice and bodily autonomy as part of Bans Off Moscow, an abortion rights PAC. In her community, she is the recipient of the Sheikh Community Unity Award for efforts advancing human rights and diversity. Jessica’s formal education includes a Masters in Organization Development from American University/National Training Laboratory and a BA from Brown University.
